The new Allihoopa app is a hub, for, well, Allihoopa I guess

It’s interesting to see how Allihoopa is developing out at the moment. Starting as a part of Propellerheads with Figure and now spun out as a thing in its own right. Whilst it has only a small number of apps connected to it (Figure, Take, SoundTrap, and Gadget (soon)), I get the feeling that the aim here is to become a mobile hub, or, dare I say it, social network for mobile musicians.

There are worse things it could be, and to be honest I think it could be a very good place to house a true sharing community. It needs more support and apps to take it, but hopefully that will come soon enough.

Here are the details of the app:

Connect with people and ideas that move you. Get inspired to create. Allihoopa unites everyone doing music together.

Follow your friends to keep up with what they’re making. Listen, like and comment on pieces. Share, remix and collaborate with music makers all over the world. Join the Allihoopa community, connecting music pieces, apps and people.

Using Allihoopa is easy!

  1. Browse the app for music that inspires you—recordings, beats, samples, songs and ideas. Allihoopa is the world’s largest pool of ‘open source’ music.
  2. Listen, like and comment when you find music that grabs you, and follow those who inspire to keep up with what they’re making
  3. Open anything you like in any connected music-making app—Figure, Take, Soundtrap, Propellerhead Reason or Korg Gadget
  4. Add to it, then drop your version back to Allihoopa for praise, feedback and to let others continue building on your piece!
  5. Super-like cool sounds you find to save them to your Soundboard on your profile

This is an early version of the Allihoopa app that we’re letting out of the nest and we’re excited to get your feedback on how we can improve! Let us know what you think and what you’d like to see next – send us a message at facebook.com/Allihoopa or tweet us @allihoopa

Figure 2.2.4 brings new sounds and more

A nice little update for Figure, here’s what the folks at Allihoopa have to say …

We’ve been getting hyped on the retro trend of this winter’s reissues of old video game consoles, that plumber guy now being on iOS, and whatnot. So we made some sounds so you can sound like those classic games too. Try combining the new Syntax Error kit with the Bassboy bass and Eight Bit Vibra lead and you’ll see what we mean. Soon you’ll be jumping head first into question marks and eating mushrooms.

Looking forward to hearing what you’ll make with the new sounds on Allihoopa!

New in this release:

  • New drum kit: Syntax Error
  • New bass sounds: Bassboy, Future House and Thicke
  • New lead sounds: Eight Bit Vibra, Hedgehog, Saw III and Triple Waves
  • Fixes an annoying issue where you couldn’t 2D touch the left side of the screen if 3D touch was turned on, no matter how hard you tried.
  • Rich notifications. Did someone build on your song? Listen to it directly from your home screen. Building on theirs is just another tap.

Figure 2.1.2 is here and Allihoopa is definitely Propellerhead

New in Figure 2.1.2:

  • Profile tab! Tap Allihoopa to find your profile. Make it even prettier by adding a photo of yourself, a description of who you are, and a tag line.
  • Double tap on a patch name to bring up the new patch browser. You can also hide a patch you don’t like by pressing the eye icon.
  • David on the Figure team suggests hiding the Kamelen lead sound, because “it’s useless”. I (Leo) kind of like it. Well, I made it. Don’t hide it please.
  • Improved Facebook sign-up and login stability
  • Some of our dialog boxes were quite confusing. They now are less so. We hope.
  • The in app settings have been moved to the iOS system Settings.

“By the way: we’ve been getting some questions about who Allihoopa is. It’s us! We were previously called the Propellerhead mobile team. We’re now the Allihoopa mobile team. Same people, same owners, more colorful logo.

Hope you’re having fun with Figure!

Figure updated to 2.1 and what is Allihoopa?

We all know and love Figure, and even though it is now free Propellerheads are still updating it. In version 2.1 this happened …

Figure is now part of Allihoopa! Connect with people and ideas that move you. Find inspiration to create.
Check out the new Allihoopa home to find music to remix and add your touch.

We hope you’ll like it!

So what is Allihoopa? It looks kind of cool and like it could be very useful for collaboration too. If you want to know more about it there’s a post on the Propellerhead site.
