You might remember me talking about Patchblocks, originally when the hardware first launched, then again when they crowdfunded for equity. Now they’re back on Kickstarter with a whole new set of hardware. The mini jam studio. You can find it on Kickstarter now, and it’s already doing well. You can also listen to below:

I’ve been meaning to post about this for a while …

Orsilus has been around for just under a month and I’ve been meaning to post about it, but just haven’t got to it before. I think it’s quite a unique iPad studio app.

“In the midst of the music technology scene stuck rinsing and repeating the same old user interfaces, Orsilus aims to sprinkle some fresh thinking and new ideas on how musicians interact their music. Orsilus is all about providing simple interfaces to complex problems, whether that is understanding how to create a professional sounding mix down or collaborating with friends, musicians and band mates thousands of miles away around the world.

The visual mixer provides a simplistic overview of how the parts of your song will sound together while still working alongside the traditional mixer every musician is used to. Integrated real-time effects and a clip arranger round off the basics, while Q-Beat, the built-in drum machine, adds an interesting circular take on drum sequencing. Collaboration is the easy part, anything you create should be shareable in 3 clicks or less.

All in all, Orsilus is a foray into alternative music user interface and ease of use, and we have loads of cool new features in the pipeline.”
