Today is the big day when every mobile musician knows that they must resist the temptation to go ahead and download Apple’s latest version of iOS. Version 10. I personally would’ve liked them to call it iOSX, but after they changed the name of OSX to MacOS that was off the cards for sure. I’d still like them to give iOS versions actual names and not numbers. I think insects would be good, but that’s a whole other story.

For today you need to resist all the goodies that Apple’s promised in iOS10 as you can be sure that it’ll break something in your musical workflow and it’ll be hard if not impossible to go back.

So sit tight, I’m sure that soon enough we’ll see a flood of app updates for iOS10. There have been a few already but just a trickle.

  1. I took the plunge this morning. I use iPhone 6S Plus and have several hundred sound making apps installed, haven’t tested everything as yet but Audiobus, Alchemy, Animoog, Gadget, iMaschine, Traktor, Bassline, Modrum, Strange Agency synths and even very old apps like Shiny Drum and iGog all produce sound and seem to run stable thus far. I like how Music app now looks cleaner and you can free a bit of space by deleting stock Apple apps.
