LFA iPad Orchestra plays Reactable original

Lake Forest Academy’s Laptop Orchestra (ostensibly an iPad orchestra for this concert) plays an original piece using the Reactable app for iOS. 8 iPad players modify sound objects in real time as they attempt to create an original sonic landscape based on the Varese/Cage idea that sounds should “react” to one another rather than simply form relationships (ie intervals, metrical patterns). This is the second piece played during the Fall 2012 All School Concert at Lake Forest Academy (an independent school north of Chicago). Laptop Orchestra is offered as a performance class alongside Orchestra and Choir and is a part of the school’s Fine and Performing Arts department.
