Why are there no real Android equivalents to the iPod Touch?

I think that Apple have been very smart if having the iPod Touch. A device almost identical to the iPhone just without the phone part.

So why don’t other hardware manufacturers do the same? Aside from tablets, which I’ll have to admit are very cheap, and often cheaper than an iPod Touch anyway, are the nearest thing, but nothing in the Android world takes the same form factor.

Or did I miss something?
