Playing with FIRe

I downloaded some field recordings from FIRe today, and was really impressed with the quality of the recordings, it is excellent considering that it comes from a mobile phone.

The HTTP server in the app gives you lots of detail about the files and offers you three choices about the file format to download in. So I’m hoping that FIRe will continue to get enhancements and upgrades on a regular basis.

Sunvox resources

Following the release of the iPhone version of Sunvox a few people have been confused about how the app works which is not surprising considering how deep and complex it is. A while back Alex made a few videos on Sunvox and how to use it so I thought I’d post some of these to help people to get to grips with the app.

Hopefully these will be useful.

The whole "iLike" thing …

We’ve had quite a bit of discussion about the iLike “Official” band apps on the app store and what people think of them. Well, here’s a little more info on what this is all about.

If your band or act wants an iPhone app, you just pay $99 to iLike and can decide if you want to charge for it, in which case you can get a 50/50 split on the revenue with iLike, or give it away for free.

I’ve got a Palm Sounds iLike page which I’ve done very little with indeed and I’ve no intention of paying them $99 for a vanila app that displays an RSS feed.

Would you / your band go down this route?

Getting that Clie together

I’m getting my clie all set up to see if it can be useful. I even managed to get Sunvox running on it yesterday although it seems to get a bit confused by the screen size.

My plan is to use it to make some little music apps for the old Palm OS, so any (simple) ideas are very welcome although I’ve got a bunch of unfinished ideas and projects that I should pick up too.

Let me know if you have inspiration.

Sorry about the dodgy screen shots. That’s the iPhone 3G camera for you!

Got my Madplayer out …

Got my Madplayer out today to see if it still works. Now that I’ve located it I remember just how annoying the smartmedia card is when you try and get it out. This one has just a 16mb card in it, which is fine for MIDI exports.

Once I’ve got something worthwhile running out of this I’ll try and post some audio output.

PianoStudio bug

PianoStudio update 1.1 has a bug that causes a network error message when you try and share your work via twitter, facebook and email. A fix is going into Apple soon.

I found this myself the other day when I tried to share a ‘creation’. In a way I’m glad as it wasn’t that good and needs more work.
