Go win yourself a Pre

Palm are running a competition to win one of 10 Pre’s. There’s a bunch of ways to enter, so why not give it a go even if you can’t run any music applications on it !

Looptastic Producer Edition

The latest version of Looptastic, the ‘Producer now features the ability to import your own loops and use them in the app. I think that this was the no. 1 feature request of this app up to now (but now there will be lots more), and it makes this a real step forward for Looptastic.

Adding loops is done through a simple web interface which many will be familiar with already.

MotionApps ‘Classic’ limitations

MotionApps have posted some more information on their ‘Classic’ emulator for webOS which includes some of the limitations of the environment. One positive was:

Q: Can Classic run the native ARM code (a.k.a. ARMlets, PNOlets…)?

A: Yes, it can. PalmOS applications containing both 68K and ARM code will work in Classic without modifications.

Which I think is good news for apps like Bhajis, Microbe, and miniMusic apps.

However, this:

Q: What other restrictions exist in Classic, comparing to real PalmOS devices?

A: In addition to limitations described above, following PalmOS features are not supported in Classic:
· Access to built-in camera
· Access to external hardware devices through Bluetooth, serial or USB ports however access to network peripherals is supported
· PalmOS development tools, like POSE, Gremlins, debuggers and similar
· Audio/video codecs – due to licensing limitations there are no built-in audio/video codecs in Classic (e.g. MP3, MP4, AMR and others available on Centro).

Makes me wonder if there will be other problems?

I’m not technical enough to answer these, but if you know please comment in some thoughts.

Stompvox for iPhone

Stompvox for iPhone reminds me of Pocket StompBox for the PPC from 4Pockets. StompBox has more effects I seem to remember. Anyway, the principle is just the same, a mic input gives you a range of effects and can be mixed together. Nice idea, I like the looper, but as with the PPC application, it would be nice to record to a wav file. Perhaps the stompvox guys could consider this in a future version?

Chordica update

Thanks to Joash for this update on Chordica:

Just wanted to give you a heads-up on an update to Chordica, now at version 1.2! Two new features are an improved metronome feature that’s almost a drum machine and the ability to select different sounds for Bass and Harmony.

Do check out the update video where I demo “Don’t Stop Believing” and “I’m Yours” with NeuMET1K and iNSTRUMENTS.

A free Chordica Lite Edition has also been uploaded to the App Store. I hope it will be a fun and free way for people to give the Chordica method a spin before committing to purchase the full version.
