Looptastic for iPhone

When I saw this on the app store I wasn’t too impressed, but then I watched the video and I’m quite tempted to buy it now. The downside (as I see it) is that there are only 10 tracks / songs you can play with. Still, it may be worth it.

If I do I’ll write a bit about what it is like.

Ocarina "This contest (still) blows" nearly over

The Smule “This contest still blows” is nearly over. In fact at 11:59 pm (and 59 seconds) it will end. So there’s still just about enough time for that last minute entry you were considering.

The winners will be announced on the 16th.

CDM on Touch Mix by Deadmau5

CDM has an interesting take on this remix app by producer Deadmau5. Most interesting on the CDM post is this:

Touch Mix is the work of Future Audio Workshop, the folks who brought us the lovely drag-and-drop, OpenSoundControl-compatible Circle synth.

Which makes me wonder if we’ll see more developers creating bespoke apps for producers and artists.

MobileMix for the iPhone

MobileMix is sort of a loop app and sort of a multi-track. It appears to sit somewhere inbetween. It looks interesting, especially as you can add as many tracks to a song as you want.

I think it would be really useful with effects added too.

Mixtikl to version 1.0.0.7

Mixtikl is now at version 1.0.0.7.

Here are the changes:
– Fixed reading of WAV files that have extended header file data
– Modified text and behaviour for the “spot” flag:
“Spot: No” -> “Spot: None”
“Spot: Performer” -> “Spot: No Drift”
New behaviour: in perfomer mode, this flag is now ignored!
“Spot: Remixer” -> “Spot: One Shot”
– Tap on left/right 10% of the content browser list, allows preview stop/start (useful for devices without keypads!)
– Fixed installs for Windows mobile Smartphone and Pocket PC
– Updated icons
– Tells you at start-up if there is a more recent version available from the Intermorphic site (desktop versions only)

Psyclops

To say that this was an unusual app for the iPhone wouldn’t really do it justice. From what I understand, the purpose of this app is to make a character dance to some music and make a quick time video from it to share. Does that sound right?

Songwriter with an iPhone

This is an interesting article about singer and songwriter Katy Steele using an iPhone like a musical sketchpad for ideas. Interesting how a variety of musicians are using handhelds more these days.

True Chip Interview with Ethan Bordeaux pt2

The True Chip has part 2 of their interview with Ethan Bordeaux.

Pt 2 is quite interesting as Ethan goes into detail about how PSPSeq works, which I found useful.
