Making Music on older PDAs (pt 1: BeatPad)

Here’s a video about making music on older PDAs. In this video I use a TRG Pro control a Yamaha MU15 using miniMusic’s MIDI adapter and application BeatPad.

If you’ve never got into handheld music and want to give it a try you can pick up a Palm IIIx for only a few pounds

Gnat Synth on eBay

This Gnat is very rare. I wish I’d kept mine. I know I sold it for much less than they go for nowadays.

The Gnat was always loads of fun to use and quite versatile really. It was the little brother to the WASP synth, which I never owned sadly.

I’ll keep an eye on this one, but I do wish someone would write an iPhone app to simulate it.

More simulation ideas

Thanks again to Robman84 for these simulation ideas:

TX81z. Speak and spell (not exactly a synth, I know!). Korg Wavedrum. Syndrum (coupled with accelerometer like Cowbell Plus, this would be awesome). Musical calculators. An official, proper, TB-303. SH-101.

If I could have all those by next week please.

Of course, the 303 simulator has already arrived with Digital Bass Line.

I agree totally with the SH-101 idea, that would be brilliant. Wavedrum and Syndrum would be very cool too.

Anyone else suggest more?

Jiyuka: Generative application for iPhone

Here’s a new app that’s awaiting approval from Apple Jiyuka lets you create beautiful compositions of randomly generated flowers and complements them with a meditative generative soundscape.

Buglabs modules in the UK

I contacted Buglabs about when they thought that their modules would be available in the UK. They think it’ll be a few months yet, so we have to wait a bit longer.
