I posted on this app earlier today, the video looks quite interesting too.

OTODUST 2 (via MatrixSynth)

Looks like this might have been a lot of fun to be at, especially if you could speak Japanese.

Windows Mobile woes …

My main smartphone and PDA has been a Palm Treo 650 for ages. However, I’ve wanted to move over to a 750 for a while, and I managed to go through a couple of 750’s in November for a variety of reasons which I won’t bore you with.

Finally I got myself an unbranded SIM free 750 thinking that this would solve all my problems. It did. But only for 7 days before the touch screen decided not to respond any more. This is somewhat annoying, not least because I’ve had to go back to using my onld 650 now.

I’m in a dilemma. I wanted windows mobile so I could use apps like Mixtikl, TrakAx Mobile, and Griff all in one device, and I liked the 750 as it has a full QWERTY keyboard which I like. However, having gone through three of them I don’t think I can stay with a WinMo treo any longer.

If any of you have any suggestions as to a decent mobile that I could use I’d appreciate the advice.

No more Palm PDAs

According to this post at PalmInforcenter CEO of Palm Ed Colligan has confirmed that Palm won’t be producing any new PDAs, which is really sad as far as I’m concerned.

Noise IO Pro and Beatmaker integration

This is the latest on the Noise IO Pro site:

BeatMaker integration!

If everything goes smooth, users will be able to use samples created by Noise.io Pro in their BeatMaker projects right away (without PC).

Software needed: Amidio Noise.io Pro 1.2 (to be released soon), Intua Beatmaker 1.3.2 (to be released soon)

This will be a big step forward if they can make it work on both sides, and would signal the start of real integration of music applications on the iPhone platform.

Lots to look forward to!

GigBaby is quite an interesting app. Priced at only £0.59 it combines a four track recorder, a drum machine, a metronome, and a set list., which sounds quite impressive to me, especially for only £0.59.

I don’t know what the app is like as yet, I haven’t had a chance to try it out, but as soon as I do I’ll write something more about it.

Another interesting ‘generative’ music app for the iPhone / Touch:

Jünglinge is an (r)evolutionary sound texture creator/generator.

Have you ever dominated 15 stereo oscillators using your thumb?
Now you can with Jünglinge!

Thanks to the incredible processing power of your iPhone™ you can create
hours of (pseudo 😛 ) music.

Or just wear your headphone and go around generating virtual soundscapes for your real life.

There are about 49.423. (number generated with a powerful server in ERLANG 😉 ) of possible combinations: you and all the human and alien races should live at least 100 lives in all the parallel universe to hear a minimal part of the soundscapes…

SID Player for iPhone

SID Player has arrived for iPhone and Touch:

Sid Player brings you the sound of the Commodore C64 to your iPhone and the iPod Touch. Enjoy game classics such as ‘Commando’, ‘Arkanoid’, ‘The last V8’ or listen to the music of ‘Rob Hubbard’, ‘Martin Galway’, and many others.

Sid Player gives you access to the High Voltage Sid Collection (HVSC) consisting of over 33.000 songs from 1125 authors. Thanks to the unique sound aesthetics, Sid music is now considered an art of its own and there’s a constant flow of new creations.

A Sid file occupies only few kbytes, thus you can quickly download C64 music via EDGE or UMTS and listen for hours. The search function enables you to find your favourites in a blink.

Here;s a new iPhone app called Loopy, which describes itself as a loop based handheld performance instrument. It looks quite interesting, but as there’s currently no support for the Touch I can’t really comment any further.
